Threads 2026: The Fabric of Gloucester
Free Workshop at Llanthony Secunda Priory
Thursday 7 May, 2 - 4pm
Lady Margaret Hall, Llanthony Secunda Priory
Join us for a free, creative workshop as part of Threads 2026: The Fabric of Gloucester, held in the beautiful surroundings of The Lady Margaret Hall at Llanthony Secunda Priory.
This inspiring session invites you to explore the theme of belonging through craft. Whether you stitch, paint, knit, crochet, or use mixed media, you’ll create a unique piece that reflects what makes you feel connected and at home.
About the Project
Threads: The Fabric of Gloucester is part of the wider THREADS programme, inviting individuals and communities to contribute handmade textile pieces exploring identity and belonging.
What do you need to feel like you belong?
Nature, people, food, books, art, animals - whatever gives you that sense of connection - bring it to life on fabric.
All completed pieces will be brought together in a special exhibition at Llanthony Secunda Priory from 19–21 June 2026, as part of Refugee Week.
What We’re Asking For
Create a square of decorated fabric that expresses your thoughts on belonging. Through stitch or other creative techniques, reflect on what matters most to you.
Guidelines for Your Piece
• Use a square of fabric sized 55cm x 55cm or 105cm x 105cm
• Fabric can be repurposed (e.g. old sheets, curtains, clothing)
• Ensure the material is strong enough to be joined into a larger patchwork
• Artwork can be applied directly or attached securely
How to Take Part
• Join us for a free workshop
• Materials and instruction provided
About the Project
Threads: The Fabric of Gloucester is a partnership project curated by Voices Gloucester and Jo Teague. It is made possible thanks to public funding from Arts Council England, The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Together Gloucester, and the Ben & Jerry’s Foundation.
We would love for you to be part of this meaningful community project - come along, get creative, and help us stitch together the story of belonging in Gloucester.
