We invited everyone to take part in our competition, and write a story about the Llanthony animals. And our winner is Harry, who is 4 years old (he had a little bit of help from his mummy, who sent us Harry's story). He has won a £20 voucher to spend on books - Congratulations!
Harry must have known that we all needed an uplifting story, and what is more uplifting than the story of a group of friends coming together, having a picnic and playing games? We'll tell you what: a newt eating orange jelly :)
This is Harry's story:
One sunny morning, Hamish the horse and his friend Percival the pig went for a walk along the canal. They took a picnic with them to enjoy in the sunshine. They found a nice space on the grass under a willow tree, and set down their blanket. In their picnic basket were cheese and jam sandwiches, carrot cakes and orange jelly.
“Hello, hello” - Hamish and Percival could hear someone calling. It was Gilbert the goose, swimming in the canal and Norbet the newt on his back. They swam over to the canal bank and joined the others. Norbet didn’t like cheese sandwiches so Percival offered him some orange jelly.
They had a game of football and played frisbee. Gilbert was great at catching the frisbee as he could fly very high.
They were all very excited as tonight they were going to a summer party at Clement the cats house.
Later on, they all arrived at the party. It looked wonderful. Flashing party lights, balloons, music and games.
Clement the cat welcomed all of her guests in. They played pass the parcel - Hamish won a medal - Musical chairs and had a dancing competition where everyone won!
It started to get late, so they all put their pyjamas on and settled down in their tents.
Oh what a great evening they had had, partying away.
